Start off with a small tattoo and then work your way from there. Carefully choose every portion of your tattoo remembering that you WILL be stuck with this tattoo for a very long time. You may want to put several small tattoos together to make a larger tattoo or you could put a few large tattoos together to make a rather large, but unique tattoo to show off.
My book about tattoo apprenticeships …
You know what would really make you stand out if you created your own type of tattoo. Of course, you can go to a tattoo parlor and get a random tattoo in a design book, but does it really make sense to be original? Would not you like to be creative and want to stand out? You can create your own tattoo types if you wish.
So when you go to your local shop and ask them to design a custom tattoo for you often are limited to only the two artists or so that work at that parlor. Sure this is okay but if you think about it only two artists is pretty limiting. Each tattoo artist has their own unique style it is after all. So you are limited to getting the look and feel of the tattoos artists that work in the shop.
